What is Agrosolar and who is it for?
Agrosolar, or agrivoltaics, represents a combination of solar panels and agricultural production on the same land area, without compromising yield.
The panels are installed on a high structure that allows sufficient light for the plants while simultaneously generating electricity. These solutions are ideal for growers of vegetables, herbs, blueberries, raspberries, peppers, and other crops that thrive in partial shading conditions.
Agrosolar systems are particularly useful for farms that want to: reduce electricity costs, provide power for irrigation systems, pumps, ventilation, and crop storage – directly on the field.
What are the main advantages of Agrosolar systems?
Agrosolar enables simultaneous production of electricity and agricultural products – increasing the overall profitability of the land.
By installing panels above the crop rows, the land remains functional for cultivation and irrigation. The panels protect plants from strong UV radiation and weather extremes, reducing the risk of damage. In addition, the generated electricity can be used for drip irrigation systems, LED lighting, pumps, and cold storage directly on the field.
